Embry is situated in the Embrienne valley in the Seven Valleys - an area of Pas-de-Calais steeped in history and folklore. The Canche, Course and Authie rivers flow through the valleys, bordered by the lush Crécy and Hesdin forests.

If you fancy a day by the seaside, the chic coastal resort of Le Touquet is just over half an hour away. The town has many superb restaurants and hotels, along with one of the seven best beaches in the world.Ideal for classic cars : no traffic!

There are many other enchanting seaside towns to visit, such as Hardelot-Plage, Le Crotoy and St-Valery-sur-Somme. Further afield, visit Monet’s beautiful house, gardens and lily pond at Giverny, the medieval town of Bruges and the cities of Lille and Brussels.

Hesdin town squareCloser to home are the market towns of Hesdin and Montreuil-sur-Mer (both 15 minutes away). Famous as the setting for the Maigret television series, Hesdin’s town square becomes a bustling marketplace every Thursday morning, where you can sample and buy local delicacies and other fresh produce. There are also many interesting shops and boutiques to explore, as well as numerous cafés for a mid-morning coffee and croissant!

Montreuil-sur-Mer has an excellent market every Saturday morning. It is famous as the town where Victor Hugo wrote his book about Mayor Jean Valjean, which was later adapted to create the musical "Les Miserables". Every year at the end of July, Montreuil-sur-Mer stages outdoor performances of the musical with a cast of hundreds.

Both Hesdin and Montreuil-sur-Mer have a huge choice of restaurants and brasseries, with set menus for as little as 10€. A little history...
Although the origins of Embry date back to prehistoric times, it was only in 1229 that the village became historically significant when the Canon de Thérouanne - Baudoin de Guînes - was assassinated there. In 1595, Embry's château was destroyed by the French army - the remains of which can still be seen today. Also, in 1660, Saint Wandrille was thought to have spent some time in the village.
