| Montreuil-sur-Mer has an excellent market every Saturday morning. It is famous as the town where Victor Hugo wrote his book about Mayor Jean Valjean, which was later adapted to create the musical "Les Miserables". Every year at the end of July, Montreuil-sur-Mer stages outdoor performances of the musical with a cast of hundreds. |
